22 Years of Marriage and One Question : Have You Looked at the Calendar Lately

Have you looked at the calendar lately?

We're in August already.

Over halfway through 2026.

This week Angela and I celebrated 22 years of marriage.

Yes, 22 years!

We're back in Virginia tending to some estate affairs.

Sitting in the basement surrounded by memories and photographs.

And it got me thinking about what Jim Rohn said about time management.

If you didn't know, he is one of my favorite motivational speakers.

Jim said that, "You cannot manage time. You can only manage yourself."

Think about that.

Here are his four core rules on time management.

Ignore the subject entirely.

His point?

Design your own life.

Don't let anyone put you in a box called success.

Success is the steady progress toward your own personal goals.

Nobody else's.

Then he said work longer and harder.

Valid, but only up to a point.

Jim pushed so hard his first year he lost 24 pounds and nearly lost his health.

He asked himself, what's the point of getting rich if you're too ill to enjoy it?

Then came the one that hit home.

Learn to manage yourself.

You run the day or the day runs you.

It's not the hours you put in.

It's what you put in the hours that counts.

And finally, develop your skills.

Efficiency comes from becoming more valuable.

What used to take eight hours takes one.

That's the compound effect of sharpening your craft over time.

Remember this...

Those dreams and aspirations you have?

Don't let them fall by the wayside.

They may only get their chance to come into fruition through you.

Life is precious. It's here today and gone tomorrow.

But here's the good news...

It's August and it's not too late.

Get back on track.

Manage yourself.

You have greatness within.

Cheers!

Steve Young introduces the "Tentacle Strategy," a framework for identifying profitable app ideas by analyzing successful, high-revenue categories rather than brainstorming from scratch. By leveraging App Store Optimization tools, developers can uncover underserved keywords linked to established apps, validate market demand, and build minimalist products that capture organic traffic. This data-driven approach helps independent developers compete effectively in a crowded market, ensuring profitability through high-converting, search-driven organic growth from day one.
