Divorcing Outrageous Outcomes

Divorcing Outrageous Outcomes - To Focus on Daily Actions

It's Super Bowl weekend!

And we decided to drive 4 hours to visit family in Virginia.

I usually drive the first half and my wife drives the second half of the trip.

We switched turns and I decided to write this newsletter because I will not have time on Sunday.

I reviewed my week and YouTube content but nothing was clicking.

But I didn’t quit.

Searching for inspiration, I scrolled through my notes and Aha!

It was a quote from Alex Hormozi that grabbed me.

"Learn to divorce the outcomes from the daily actions. The goal is not the outcome. Do whatever it takes..."

I started reflecting...Got It!

I remembered when I first learned to hit a golf ball. LOL!

There's nothing worse than swinging a golf club and coming up short.

I'm talking about that "woof" or "wish" sound of air you hear ― when missing the ball completely.

Or not to mention, topping the ball and seeing it roll 3-feet in front of you.

A friend said "swing nice and easy ― if you try too hard, your mechanics break down."

He also said, “remember…fluid motion, keep your eye on the ball and don't raise up."

Here's the thing...

When I finally connected the club head and the ball (the "sweet spot"'), it was that sound all golfers crave.

But what does this have to do with divorcing outcomes etc.?

Let me explain...

When you do not keep your eye on the ball and look too soon ― you mess up!

Most beginners swing and immediately turn their head to look for the ball's path.

Guess what happens?

Your head lifts up, raising your shoulders and you end up missing or topping the ball before connecting.

And?

You're focused on the outcome ― not the consistent action or mechanics.

The goal is to consistently do the work.

And therefore...

The outcomes will follow.

The reality of it all…

You and I both know that this is easier said than done.

If you are a growth driven person like me, you want to see progress for your efforts.

This can discourage you ― when trying to keep score before you’ve gained significant momentum.

My trick is to recognize those moments but quickly remind myself that I am doing the consistent work ― the daily actions that it takes to achieve my goals.

We must operate in abundance over lack.

Cheers!
