Finding Light in a Darkening World: Lessons from FBC
Today was a special day!
Our dear friend was installed as Pastor of First Baptist Church, Blacksburg, VA.
Sharrika Davis started attending FBC around the same time I did in 1998.
FBC will always hold a special place in my heart.
It’s where I grew as a Virginia Tech college student into a man.
And today I can celebrate a friend who is at the helm ― Rev. Dr. Sharrika Adams.
Rev. Dr. Cedric E. Malone delivered a thought provoking installation sermon.
As a writer, I was captivated by his storytelling style.
And then there was a challenge.
He said, "Be excellent in what you do. The world isn't getting better. So we must be the light."
He was absolutely right.
When you look at the bad things that are going on, it can block out the light.
Here's the key...
Only if you allow it.
Dr. Malone's sermon was about "The Next Generation."
But how do we help the next generation?
We have to teach and show them how to utilize their faith.
What's the saying? If you don't believe in something, you'll fall for anything.
Thinking back to college, I recall a jarring moment.
A young engineering student jumped off our basketball coliseum ― ending his life.
I could only imagine what he was going through mentally.
Life can be tough, as well as business.
I challenge you to not give up.
Don't throw in the towel.
Trust and believe that God will see you through.
“Be the light you want to see in the world.” ― Ghandi
Cheers!

PROMPT: a cinematic, high-contrast photograph of a glowing, iridescent holographic butterfly, its delicate wings beating rapidly as it hovers just above a person's outstretched palm, leaving behind a mesmerizing trail of shimmering, turquoise pixels that seem to fade into the atmosphere, representing the delicate fusion of nature and technology, with the person's hand illuminated by the soft, ethereal glow of the butterfly, their skin a warm, golden brown, their fingers slender and gentle, as if cradling the fragile beauty, the background a deep, dark gradient that allows the butterfly to take center stage, with a subtle, bokeh effect that adds to the dreamlike quality of the image.
