How to Time-Travel With A Pen : Journaling Your Way Back

Ever feel like your past self holds secrets to your present challenges?

We often get caught up in the daily grind and forget the lessons we've learned along the way.

It's easy to forget the moments that shaped us, or even the wisdom we've accumulated.

Better yet…

Have you ever driven several miles only to wonder how you got there?

Today, I was looking for that extra bit of inspiration to write this post.

I glanced over at my bookshelf and there it was — a personal journal from 2009.

The very first sentence read: 'I started this journal after listening to a seminar by Jim Rohn, a motivational speaker.' — R. Banks

I then started reading thoughts, insights, and advice:

  • who you know will get you there and what you know will keep you there

  • start preparing America for global careers

  • stock recommendations based on inflation (GLD now up ~200%)

  • I am a rich man because I am surrounded by so many beautiful/wonderful people

  • jobs become obsolete but talent doesn't

The funny thing is, that was only the first two or three pages!

I can't say I executed every single plan I jotted down.

But, if you know better, you should do better.

It brought me great joy sifting through my old thoughts.

But were they mere old thoughts?

There had to be some importance and meaning for me to write them down. Right?

Here’s the Challenge: 

Journal and document your journey.

It's almost magical to go back and re-read your own writings.

You can time-travel back to those moments to better appreciate your now.

Or maybe, you need content to inspire your next newsletter :)
