Is Patience Overrated? Knowing When to Act Fast and When to Wait
Many entrepreneurs often expect rapid results with minimal effort.
This leads to confusion, frustration and stagnation.
I’ve been there too.
We're often bombarded with overnight success and “quick win” messaging.
Don't believe me?
Scroll through your social media accounts.
Is there a balance between impatience and patience?
This week, I found a new podcast called Founders Inc.
I enjoy listening to successful entrepreneur stories, methodologies and tips.
Furqan Rydhan is the founder of Founders Inc. and during his talk he touched on an important principle.
Furqan said, "there's a saying...impatient action ― patient results".
I pondered for a second.
Patience?
Isn't patience is a virtue?
The point is this...
Instead of passively waiting for results, focus on rapid experimentation and data collection.
In statistics, it's referred to as a "large sample size".
By taking imperfect or impatient action we can collect a large dataset to then iterate on what works.
For example, Cody Schneider “tries 100 things and doubles down on the top 3% that work."
Don’t miss this...
If you only focus on the results beforehand, it can be detrimental to your success.
Can I ask you a question?
Have you ever started a new diet or workout routine?
How long does it take before you're looking in the mirror or jumping on a scale?
So, the next time you're tempted to chase immediate results, focus on the actions.
Trust the process and the data will present itself.
Cheers!
