“ If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.”
Keep Feeding the Machine : What Grief Taught Me About Freedom
I've been away from home for almost two weeks now.
In the middle of all of this — the loss, the family, the preparations?
It hit me.
This is exactly why I worked so hard to build a freedom lifestyle business.
When life happens, you need to be able to move.
No permission needed. No PTO request. No boss to answer to.
Just pack up, go, and be where you need to be for the people who need you most.
That's freedom.
And I'll tell you what else inspired me this week.
Yesterday we laid Mr. Palmer (father-in-law) to rest.
This man battled major health issues for the last three years.
Three years!
And not once did he stop serving his church. His community. His family.
He kept showing up consistently until he couldn't anymore.
So what's our excuse?
I've been living that freedom this week — even in grief.
I set up a little shop in my father-in-law's basement.
Packed some equipment.
In the quiet moments I worked on my inventions.
Tended to my online businesses.
Checked in on my Skool community.
Am I 100% operational? No.
But I'm moving. I'm present.
And I'm still available mentally and physically for what matters most right now.
That's the machine working.
Some mornings I wake up to Payhip payments from my software.
Rent checks and income that didn't require me to clock in.
It didn't happen overnight.
It took years of focused, intentional work.
Passion over paychecks. Freedom over comfort.
But now when life calls (and life will call) — I can answer.
So let me ask you something.
Why are you building your business?
For the money? Or for the freedom?
For me — it's always been freedom.
And when you're passionate about what you build, the money follows.
I also can't overlook my wife. None of this machine runs without her support and belief in what we're building.
Start now. Be consistent. Keep feeding the machine.
You'll be amazed when it starts churning.
Cheers!
