Most People Use AI Wrong: The Lincoln Approach to AI

This week, I took time to slow down on my coding project to dive back into AI exploration.

Each week I write about AI and available tools, but I got behind on testing them.

It got me thinking back to when ChatGPT first exploded onto the scene...

At the time, we were stuck in "Google Mode."

Remember when everyone said, "Just Google it?"

Now we have a chatbot that can give us the exact answer.

But, did we evolve in our approach?

Most people are still treating AI like a fancy search engine.

They throw basic prompts at it expecting stellar results — only to see inconsistency.

Here's the thing...

AI has improved, and we must expand our approach.

And there's something even more concerning happening.

MIT discovered that ChatGPT users get worse at critical thinking over time. (lazy brain)

Try this instead...

Treat AI as your teammate.

Start working with AI to create comprehensive plans.

Abraham Lincoln said, "Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe."

The same thing applies to AI — do your planning first, then ask for results.

Instead of saying "Give me XYZ," try this: share your strategy and what you're trying to accomplish.

Explain what you're producing and creating.

Then ask AI to help you structure a plan first.

Work through the strategy together, and you will see the impact.

Remember this...

Some people use AI for quick answers. Others use it as a thinking partner.

Guess who wins?

Cheers!
