The Heisman Mindset: A Blueprint for Success
Last night, I took a break from coding to watch the 2024 Heisman Trophy Ceremony.
After a day of software development, I was stuck in a loop of errors and failed builds.
The mental pressure was mounting and it was time to decompress.
Did you know that the Heisman Trophy is the most prestigious award in college football?
Since 1935, it’s been given to the best college football player each year.
Of course, my favorite nominee ― Travis Hunter won!
There were three other finalists and it was inspiring to hear each of their journeys.
I soon realized a common theme: believing in oneself, having faith in God, and working hard.
Some may say, that’s just a cliche’.
But to me, if it’s easy to do, it’s easy not to do.
What do you mean?
No one can teach you mental resilience ― it’s something you develop.
During my personal development studies, Les Brown reminded me of two important key points.
He often says, “If you do what’s hard, life will be easy ― And if you do what’s easy, life will be hard.”
Meaning, life is hard but if you do the daily disciplines, it will be easier to manage.
Les often quotes Churchill ― “If there’s no enemy within, the enemy outside can’t harm you.”
So, as you continue to build your business and advance your career, focus on your mental health, mental resilience and perseverance.
