The Unexpected Slide: What We Can Learn from the 2025 NFL Draft
The 2025 NFL Draft was a big topic for weeks.
As a fan, I was looking forward to seeing where my favorite college players would land.
But this year's draft took an unexpected turn with the Shedeur Sanders story.
Here was a young man with so much promise, projected top five... and then, the waiting.
It was a plot twist for sure...
You know, the kind that makes you pause and think about this unpredictable journey called life.
It got me thinking about the fine line between confidence and overconfidence.
Imagine this...
You've poured everything into your craft, you know you can deliver and when the big moment comes, it's yours. Right?
As Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast my friend."
Reality sets in.
The draft board doesn't call your name when expected.
The market doesn't react as predicted.
The funding doesn't materialize on schedule.
It's a gut punch.
How do you respond?
Do you begin questioning and doubting yourself?
Or even blame others?
I was in disbelief.
And the internet was buzzing with opinions as Sanders slid.
Get this...
Sanders slid from Round 1 to the 6th pick of Round 5.
That's number 144th overall.
Here's the thing...
Sometimes, a "no" just means "not right now."
Or you can put it this way...
It's not a matter of if, but a matter of when.
Overconfidence can blind us from the impact of external forces that are out of our control.
When agonizing over his selection, Sanders said he kept a positive attitude and put his trust in God.
